It’s an annual event recognized as the most important Mountain Bike Race in Mexico. It takes place the second weekend of October under desert climatic condition thru extreme terrain.
More than 2800 cyclists race, with a steady growth rate of 11.33% year to year.
75% of riders are between the ages of 22 to 45 years.
Finishing time ranges from 3 ˝ hrs. for the most advanced to more than 10 hr. for the last racer.

- Every Cyclist Should:
- Wear Helmet and Gloves in order to race.
- Ride on the ride side of the trail giving preference to riders on the way back.
- Allow faster riders to pass you.
- Men watch your language especially in front of biker girls
- Be respectful with other riders, Spectators and Staff.
- Take your trash with you.
- Danger Zones:
- Pavement zone (Aprox. 1/2 km.) after you leave the levy.
- The King Kong steps you Hill need to carry your bike
- The Devils Drop very technical downhill.
- The asfixia climb, where you Hill have to pray to make it to the top.
- You may get help from support vehicles but you will be DQ if you hitch a ride.
- The first 650 finishers (men or women) plus the next 100 women will get a cycling jersey you must finish the race with your Bib # and all checkpoint marks.
- The Start will be massive but place yourself according to your abilities:
- Elite: Olympic cyclist, State and local champions and invited cyclist. (you must show proof that you belong in this group)
- Expert: Top 100 finishers from previous years. (Entry will verified)
- Advanced: Avid Cyclist with 3 or more years of experience and that have finished 300th or les son previous chupacabras races.
- Beginers: Cyclist that are starting in this sport and are participating in this race for the first time.
- Place your BIB # in a visible place on your bike.
- You must finish the race with you Bib# if you drop it, stop and pick it up.
- You must pass and collect 5 marks throughout the cours
- No prices will be awarded if you are missing any of the 5 marks or if you are missing your bib#.
- No shortcuts follow the designated route and enjoy, no cry babies.
